Seroquel (quetiapine) is a type of prescription medication called an antipsychotic drug. These medications often treat conditions that can cause psychosis or losing touch with reality, but they also help with different kinds of depression and anxiety—especially when first-line treatments aren’t enough.

There are two types of antipsychotic drugs. “Typical” antipsychotics refer to the first generation of these drugs, which were developed in the 1950s. “Atypical” antipsychotics, which were introduced in the 1990s, are considered second-generation drugs. They are just as effective as typical antipsychotics but are much less likely to cause complications such as movement and motor control problems.

Seroquel (quetiapine) is an atypical antipsychotic. It changes how certain chemicals (dopamine and serotonin) work in the brain.

Dopamine is a “chemical messenger” (neurotransmitter) that delivers instructions to nerve cells in the brain. It helps control mood, pleasure, motivation, memory, attention, and other functions. Serotonin is also a chemical messenger. It’s sometimes called the feel-good chemical because it helps regulate your mood and sense of well-being.

In people with depression or psychosis, dopamine and serotonin signals don’t work properly. Seroquel (quetiapine) works by blocking these abnormal signals.

Quetiapine blocks and.

It also can affect how other medications work (e.g., medications that decrease activity), so it’s important to be aware of this potential side effect and what to monitor for.

If you’re taking an antipsychotic drug, be sure to tell your doctor about all the medications you’re taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and vitamins. This includes prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and natural products that don’t come into contact with the drug. You can also refer to the list of medications’ interactions with antipsychotic drugs’ list and any other information you’re about to your doctor’s office. This information can help your doctor make an informed decision about whether or not you should take this medication.

Seroquel (quetiapine) can cause serious side effects. Call your doctor at once if you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer, a heart attack, or other serious side effects from medications that affect serotonin, including antipsychotics (such as haloperidol, quetiapine, or olanzapine). Your doctor or pharmacist can help you identify potential side effects.

If you have a history of bleeding or blood clots, be sure to tell your doctor. They may need to change the dose of medications you’re taking—especially antipsychotics—in some cases. Antipsychotics can increase the risk of bleeding or blood clots. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of changing the dose of a medication you’re taking.

Seroquel (quetiapine) can also cause a low blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure, dizziness, or heart problems, seek medical attention immediately. Doful warning signs include chest pain, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you experience these or any of the other serious side effects from medications that contain Seroquel (like dizziness or low blood pressure), call your doctor immediately.

Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:

  • hearing or vision problems or a history of eye problems such as retinohaemoddenoma or retinitis pigmentosa.
  • cancer of the brain or spine.
  • liver disease.
  • prostate cancer.
  • a stroke or heart attack that have not only been fatal, but have been reported in more than 1 in 100 people.

Seroquel (quetiapine) can cause more serious side effects than any antipsychotic drug. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You can cause more serious side effects with this antipsychotic drug.

If you have a history of seizures or kidney problems, discuss how this medication might affect your treatment with your doctor. You can have a controlled seizure control with this antipsychotic drug. You can have a controlled manic and depressive illness with antipsychotics. You can have a controlled heart rhythm with antipsychotics. You can have a rare side effect of sudden numbness or weakness (sudden tingling or/and/gains on the hands/ankles/feet).

Condition: Schizophrenia in a few years

I have had schizophrenia in my life for nearly 2 years. I was taking it as a first dose for schizophrenia. I was told that this medication would help me and my mood. I was prescribed it to my wife and kids who were on it. I felt like my brain was working again. It worked great with the medication. I was on a full dose of Seroquel and was very happy. I feel like I am normal again. The negative changes were very mild. I was able to sleep, eat and feel better in a few days. I am glad I did this.

My doctor prescribed this as a first dose of schizophrenia for my daughter, and it worked great. My wife and I were very happy. It worked great for her as well. She does not have any thoughts of hurting her moods. I have no questions about this. Thank you.

I have been on Seroquel for about 4 weeks now. I stopped taking it due to side effects and it became a little more difficult to control. I noticed that my energy levels were not as good as before. I am very pleased with the results. I have been on a low dose of this drug for 6 months and the side effects are not too severe. I have taken several different antipsychotics so far. I can not say that I have ever taken Seroquel with my children. I have also taken an anticonvulsant for about 2 weeks but no improvement. I have stopped taking it and now the side effects are not too severe. The side effects of Seroquel are very mild. I am very happy and looking forward to using this drug again.

After taking this, I felt great. It worked great. I am glad I did it for my daughter. My sister and I have been taking it for several months. The side effects are not too severe. I am very happy with the results. It did work great and I am now in the process of using it again.
